Jennie Pitts

Jennie grew up studying dance in Southern California.  She graduated with a BA in Dance and English Literature from the University of Oregon and received her Master of Fine Arts in Dance from The University of Colorado, Boulder in 2004.

A dedicated educator, Jennie has taught creative movement, dance and yoga classes throughout the western states and in Czech Republic for organizations such as the Vancouver Public School District, University of Colorado, The International School of Music & Fine Arts, Prague, and University of Nevada Reno.  In 2004, Jennie was honored with one of the University of Colorado’s Graduate Teaching Excellence Awards and also served as the graduate director for CU Contemporary Dance Works, an outreach project that takes dance into rural parts of Colorado.

Jennie believes firmly in the interdisciplinary potential of dance choreography and has collaborated with visual and theatre artists such as Chris Tanner and the Tony Award winning playwright/director Mark Medoff.  Her choreography was selected by the American College Dance Festival to be performed at their National Gala event at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Jennie is a Registered Yoga Teacher and currently teaches yoga at O2 Wellness Studio in Gardnerville and is the Community Outreach Manager for the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.
